IN DETAIL
Three parts. One job: keep the ball coming back.
The whole trainer is a 21 cm base, a cord and a ball. Nothing to charge, nothing to assemble, nothing to break. Here is exactly what each part does.
01 — THE BASE
Fill it. Forget it.
The base measures 21 cm across — about 8.3 inches, roughly the footprint of a dinner plate. Empty, it weighs almost nothing and carries one-handed by the moulded handle. Unscrew the cap, fill the sealed chamber with water, and it turns into dead weight that stays exactly where you put it.
Non-slip rubber pads on the underside grip hard court, driveway, concrete, garage and gym floor without sliding or scuffing. Drain it before it goes in the car and it fits under a seat.
02 — THE CORD
Feeds clean. Returns fast.
The elastic tether seats into a recessed anchor collar on the side of the base and runs out through the moulded side channel. That single routing path is what stops it winding itself around the housing between shots.
Stand where the cord sits just slack at rest. Hit, and it pays out, loads and snaps the ball straight back at you. Every shot feeds the next one — which is the entire reason you get hundreds of reps instead of dozens.
03 — THE BALL
Real flight. Impossible to lose.
Optic yellow, standard 40-hole outdoor pattern — the same hole count as the ball you compete with, so flight and bounce behave the way your hands already expect. Not a foam substitute that teaches you the wrong timing.
It arrives pre-drilled and corded, bright enough to track in low light, and tough enough for repeated hard-court sessions. The ball is the only part that wears; replacements come in packs of 3 and 6.
04 — SETUP
Sixty seconds from box to first rep.
Fill the base. Press the knotted end of the cord into the anchor collar. Run it out through the side channel. That is the whole setup — no tools, no assembly, no net to string.
You need roughly a 3 metre clear radius to swing freely, which a single driveway or a two-car garage covers comfortably.
Why practice solo?
-
01 — Reps beat games
An hour of open play gets you maybe 50 touches. Ten minutes here gets you 300. Improvement is a volume problem.
-
02 — Train your reaction window
The ball comes back faster than a human feeds it. Your hands learn to reset before your brain has caught up.
-
03 — Own the dink
The soft game is pure touch, and touch decays without daily contact. Groove it between sessions.
-
04 — Arrive already warm
Five minutes in the parking lot and your first game stops being your warm-up game.
SUPPORT
Questions, answered
Why would I need a refill pack?
The base and the cord anchor are built to outlast the ball by a long way. The corded ball is the one part taking every single strike, so over time the elastic loses its snap and the cord frays where it meets the ball. That is ordinary wear, not a fault.
Keeping a spare on hand is the difference between swapping a ball in ten seconds and losing a session. It is also a $19.99 fix rather than replacing the whole trainer.
Replacement balls come pre-drilled and pre-corded in packs of 3 ($19.99) or 6 ($29.99), and press straight into the anchor collar on the base you already own.
How big is it, exactly?
The base is 21 cm (8.3 in) across — about the footprint of a dinner plate — with a moulded carry handle through the body. Drained, it fits under a car seat.
Will it slide on my driveway?
Filled with water and set on its rubber grip pads, the base stays planted through normal drilling. On very smooth polished concrete, fill it completely for maximum hold.
Does it work indoors?
Yes. Garage, gym floor and hard indoor flooring all work, and the grip pads are designed not to scuff. You need roughly a 3-metre clear radius to swing freely.
Is the ball a real pickleball?
It is an optic yellow outdoor ball with the standard 40-hole pattern, so flight and bounce match what you play with. It is drilled and corded for the tether.
